YIDUI
The McLean County Coroner’s Office began the YIDUI program in 1994. This alternative sentencing program has two separate components: an evening in the emergency room of a local hospital and a brief but powerful visit to the McLean County Coroner’s Office. As part of the court ordered Youthful Intoxicated Drivers Visitation Program, the McLean County Coroner’s Office Visitation Program includes the following:

1. A scheduled initial visit with a Coroner’s Office staff member who describes the operations of the Coroner’s Office as they relate to fatal drunk driving collisions. These initial visits are scheduled on Thursday afternoons at 1:30 p.m. and take approximately 15 minutes.

2. A second visit is scheduled at the Coroner’s Office discretion and comprises a tour of the McLean County morgue; viewing of a fatality from a drunk driving collision; and viewing of appropriate materials such as photographs or videos regarding the consequences of drunk driving. At the conclusion of this second visit, the Coroner’s Office Staff member answers any questions and provides the participants with a certificate of completion.
