5/13/2008 -- Students’ Anti-Tobacco Posters to Be Displayed at ISU’s University Galleries
NORMAL- The McLean County Health Department and University Galleries of Illinois State University are teaming up for the 6th year to share the anti-tobacco messages of McLean County grade school students. From May 12-30, anti-tobacco art created by 4th and 5th grade participants of Illinois’ Tar Wars Anti-tobacco Education program will be displayed in the exhibit Speaking Art Against Tobacco at Illinois State University’s Center for the Visual Arts in Galleries 2, 2.5 and 3.

5/13/2008 -- West Nile Virus Surveillance Underway
BLOOMINGTON – Surveillance efforts for West Nile virus are now underway in McLean County, as well as in other counties throughout Illinois. The McLean County Health Department will monitor virus activity in birds and mosquitoes during the 2008 mosquito season. The department will also launch a public information campaign to remind people to take personal precautions from mosquito bites and eliminate mosquito breeding sites.

4/3/2008 -- McLean County Board of Health Presents 2008 Public Health Award
BLOOMINGTON – Jan Knollenberg, RN, MSN, has been chosen as the recipient of the McLean County Board of Health 2008 Public Health Award for furthering public health principles, practices, and services in McLean County. In observance of National Public Health Week which takes place April 7-13, Board of Health President Dan Steadman presented the award at the board meeting on April 2. This is the sixteenth year for the award.

1/17/2008 -- Nominees Sought for the 16th Annual Public Health Award
Do you know a McLean County professional or volunteer who promotes public health principles? If so, the McLean County Health Department is accepting nominations for the 16th annual McLean County Board of Health Public Health Award. This award honors a McLean County resident who has furthered the principles and practices of public health. The recipient of the award will be recognized during National Public Health Week in April.
