Fishing – Evergreen Lake has 3 accessible floating fishing piers with accessible restrooms nearby. These sites are located in the Main Recreation Area near the Boat Marina, at White Pines Cove and the White Oak Area near the boat launch. The Department has installed underwater fishery attraction structures near these piers. In addition, there is an accessible fishing overlook at the Pump Station and also a Challenge level 1 dock at the Deer Island Acess with 1:10 slope hard surface access path.

Swimming Beach – Glasener Beach at Evergreen Lake provides a concrete accessible ramp entry into water levels. Type II Personal Floatation Devices are also available at the beach.

Boat Rental Marina – a hand operated paddle boat is available, as are
motorized rowboats – a fully accessible boat transfer dock with transfer box and lift are available.

Boat Launches – Both the main recreation area boat launch and the White Oak Area boat launch have accessible courtesy docks next to the launches. These are docks which provide access to a floating pier, from which individuals may transfer to a watercraft in the water.

Camping – COMLARA County Park’s developed campground facility in the Main Recreation Area features 10 Accessibility improved sites with limestone accessible pads, elevated fire rings, accessible picnic tables. In addition COMLARA County Park has campsites that are exclusively reserved for disabled campsites.

Picnic Areas – COMLARA County Park and West County Park include Accessible shelters & individual picnic sites. These locations are connected to parking areas by limestone screened paths.

Trails – The Department has a limited number of natural limestone accessible paths and trails providing access to developed areas of COMLARA Park.

Visitor Center – the COMLARA County Park Visitor is accessible to provide information and assistance to Visitors. The Visitor Center is a good first stop on your visit to COMLARA Park.

Hunting – The Department offers disabled hunter archery/shotgun
deer hunting opportunities. Fully accessible paths are provided to ground blinds. An appropriate IDNR deer tag is required to participate.

Special Events – The Department recognizes that special events are a key component in any universal access program. The Department uses portable paths to provide access to activities in undeveloped areas.

Vehicle Permits – The Department will issue permits for access to areas
otherwise restricted to public vehicle use for those with mobility disabilities. To protect natural and developed resources from damage, some restrictions may apply.

OPPORTUNITIES TO HELP - The Department has a wide number of opportunities for you to help continuing to expand recreational opportunities. Dontation and Sponsorship opportunities for additional accessible trails or a hydraulic elevated deer hunting stand are just two ways that we can continue to improve our programs.
