The Administration and Support Division is responsible for administration
and fiscal management, secretarial services, registrar services, animal
control, health promotion and assessment, and bioterrorism planning
and response.
Birth and Death Certificates
The McLean County Health Department director is registrar for vital
records in McLean County. As part of administering the Vital Records
Act, the registrar maintains birth and death records for 10 years.
After that time, records are maintained by the County Clerk.
Certified copies of birth and death certificates can be obtained in
person at the McLean County Health Department, Monday through Friday
from 8 a.m. to 12 noon and from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. A minimal processing
fee will be charged for certified and additional copies.

Animal Control Program
The main goal of the county's Animal Control Program is the prevention
of rabies.
The program enforces state rabies vaccination laws and the McLean County
Dog Registration Ordinance. Additional activities include stray animal
control in rural areas and select municipalities, investigation of
reported animal bite cases and operation of the McLean County Animal
Control Center, which is located on Morris Avenue (3 miles south of
Veterans Parkway) in Bloomington.
Health Promotion and Assessment Program
The program is designed to inform the community of important health
issues and available services. Activities include the distribution
of health literature, development of promotional campaigns, and participation
in community health events. The assessment component of the section
is responsible for the oversight of the department's Illinois Project
for Local Assessment of Needs (IPLAN) function and implementation
of the Community Health Plan.
Bioterrorism Planning and Response
At the local level, McLean County Health Department is responsible
for preparing public health and partnering community agencies to
respond in cases of a bioterrorism event. The department works
closely with
the Illinois Department of Public Health (http://www.idph.state.il.us/Bioterrorism/default.htm),
area hospitals, health care providers and police, fire, ambulance
and emergency service providers to meet the health protection needs
of
McLean County residents.
