HIV Counseling & Testing
The McLean County Health Department is your partner in HIV/AIDS prevention. Through counseling, testing, community education, outreach, surveillance and prevention case management, the department works to prevent and control the spread of HIV/AIDS in McLean County.

Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) Antibody Counseling and Testing Program

  • Offers anonymous and confidential counseling and testing for the presence of HIV antibodies, which can cause AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome).
  • Court ordered, immigration and travel testing is not provided. Copies of test results are also NOT provided.
  • Appointments are available. However, walk-ins are accepted on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.
  • No fee is charged, but donations are accepted.

Prevention Case Management

  • Offers intensive one-on-one prevention counseling and support to people who want to reduce their risk for HIV
  • Assists in accessing medical, psychological and social services needed to improve health and reduce risk for HIV
  • Clients do not have to be HIV positive to meet with the prevention case manager
  • Professional services are free and completely private

Popular Opinion Leader Program

  • Staff recruits and trains key individuals to become popular opinion leaders (POLs) in the community
  • Through casual conversation, POLs provide prevention and risk reduction information at various venues throughout McLean County
  • POLs also make referrals to the McLean County Health Department

Living Positive Support Group

  • Provides a private, safe location for meeting others who are living with HIV/AIDS
