Juvenile Probation
Probation Supervision
It is the primary job of the juvenile probation office to supervise and assist juvenile offenders court-ordered to a term of probation or court supervision.  Probation officers use the Effective Casework Model as a method to assess and respond to the risks and needs of the juvenile.

Evidence-Based Practices
Probation staff engage youth in motivational interviewing and provide juvenile offenders with cognitive behavioral groups such as Moral Reconation Therapy and Thinking for a Change.  Research has shown these groups to be effective in reducing recidivism.

Report Writing
Preparing Social Investigation Reports on juveniles and their families is integral to the sentencing process in juvenile court.  Social Investigation Reports contain verified information regarding the risk factors and protective factors specific to the juvenile offender and tender recommendations to the Court as to an appropriate sentence.

Community Service
Community service is a sanction recognized in the statute and ordered by the court for juvenile offenders as part of a court order.  The community service work is performed at not-for-profit organizations and in the community in which the minor resides.  Individual community service and work crews are arranged and monitored by juvenile court services staff.
