The Emergency Management Agency (EMA) prepares and carries out disaster response and recovery actions to prevent, minimize, repair, and alleviate injury and damage from natural, man-made, or nuclear disasters.
Disaster response is the local responsibility of cities, villages, and townships. McLean County EMA operates in a supportive role for state and federal agencies.
Duties
Key responsibilities of the department are:
- Clinton Power Plant support
- County Disaster Plan and Hazardous Materials Plan
- HAZMAT response
- Search and rescue
- Weather watch
Important Dates
March 7, 2017 - There will be a State-wide tornado Drill beginning at 10:00 am. All participating schools, business, and agencies should review their procedures prior to that date and then participate in following through and exercise their plan.
March 23, 2017 - The Annual EMA Spotter Class will be held in the EMA Operations Room in the basement of the Law and Justice Center starting at 6:30 pm.
