The McLean County Recorder''s Office is the official land records office for all real estate located in the County. Unlike any other county office, Recorder’s Office records are used forever in documenting both the physical measurements and land titles.  The Recorder is responsible to maintain, restore and make available on a daily basis all land records dating from our founding in 1831 and to preserve them for future generations. Those records up to the 1970s are primarily in hand written book form.  Recordings since 1973 are kept in modern computer database programs, which require accurate and timely indexing on a daily basis combined with maintenance and preservation of microfilm and computer images of documents.  Over the next several years electronic document transmission and reception is expected to predominate, requiring our office attain substantial new technological expertise and security.

In addition, we also record for public record Uniform Commercial Code documents (UCCs), military discharges, and other contracts which may require public recording. The recorder''s staff is ready to assist you in a professional and timely manner.

Available Computers
The McLean County Recorder's Office has six computer workstations available for the public without charge, for searching records and document images. The computer document index with images covers 1973 to present. Book records are available starting in 1831, when the county was founded, to the early 70s. Microfilmed documents also extend back to 1831.

Internet Search Capability
McLean County Recorder's electronic records, from 1973 to present, are searchable online just as if you were in the office. A no-cost search account is necessary to access the records.
