The VAC of McLean County exists to assist
indigent Veterans and their families with limited temporary emergency
financial aid. The VAC also assists Veterans with various services listed
below.
Certificates/Forms Assistance to Veterans/Families of Military Veterans:
Assistance to Veterans and their families in obtaining, filing,
and completing forms for claims to State and Federal Agencies, such
as U.S. and Illinois Department of Veteran Affairs, Social Security
Administration, Department of Public Aid, and others to secure the benefits
and services to which they are entitled.

Documents: Certificate of Discharge (DD 214), necessary documents
Military Records of Military Veterans:
Assistance to Veterans and their families in obtaining certified copies
of active duty records (primarily Certificate of Discharge DD 214 or
its predecessor, Report of Separation).
Eligibility: Veterans and their direct next of kin
Application: Walk In
Documents: None (SSN, Military Service #, Branch of Service,
Place and Date of Birth, Dates of Service, and Rank/Grade can speed
up the process).
Specialized Information and Referral to Veterans/Families of Military
Veterans:
Information about Human Service Resources in the Community to link Veterans
and their families who need assistance with the appropriate service
providers.
Eligibility: Veterans and their Families
Application: Call or walk in.
Documents: None
Temporary Financial Aid to Veterans/Families of Military Veterans:
Limited Financial Support to needy Veterans and their families. Support
is limited to rent or mortgage payments, utility payments, and transportation
to VA Medical Centers. NOTE: Our Program is one of emergency assistance
and is not designed to be an ongoing means of support.
Eligibility: Veterans of Active Duty who were Honorably Discharged
and whose income level is below the Public Aid Guidelines.
Application: Call for an Appointment
Documents: (1) Certificate of Discharge (DD 214), (2) Pay stubs
for previous six weeks, (3) lease agreement or house payment book, (3)
original electric, heating, or water bill, (4) If Disabled, or claiming
disability, please bring in Doctors or Hospital papers and copies of
Applications for Social Security (SSI/SSD) or Applications for Veterans
Administration Disability Compensation/Pension Claims, (5) Document
providing proof of any unexpected expense or bill that caused a financial
hardship.
If your work hours do not allow you to make an appointment
during these hours, we can make arrangements to open the office outside
these hours. If you are house/home bound we can arrange to meet at your
home. Please call.
