Register to vote
When you register to vote online, your registration is digitally sent to our offices. Simply complete the form and submit it to get registered.

To register to vote by mail, download and complete the English or Spanish registration form, print it and mail it to our offices at:

Register to vote
At your polling place or early voting site
To register to vote in person, you must provide two forms of identification. One must have your current address. We do advise you to register before Election Day if possible, due to the potential of long lines at your polling place.
Grace period registration
Grace Period Registration/Voting is for those who did not register to vote or submit a change of address before June 1, Close of Registration. During this time, you may come to the County Clerk’s office and register to vote or change your address. You MUST vote at this time and you must present two forms of ID to register to vote; one of which must indicate your current address.

Did you know: When you move, you are responsible for canceling your voter registration from your previous address.
Cancel your voter registration
To cancel your voter registration with McLean County, download and complete the Voter Registration Cancelation Form below and deliver it by mail or in-person to:

Deputy Registrars
A Deputy Registrar is an individual who has completed training provided by an election authority to register voters. Deputy Registrars may register voters who reside anywhere in the State of Illinois, and the Board of Elections will forward the registrations to the proper jurisdiction.
A McLean County Deputy Registrar must be:
- Registered to vote in McLean County
- Trained by the Clerk's office
- Able to read, speak, and write in English
- 18 years old by the upcoming election day
- Sponsored by a qualified organization or agency
Examples of persons who can be a Deputy Registrar include:
- Chief librarian or designated person from any public library
- Principal, or a qualified person designated by the principal, of any high school, elementary school, or vocational school
- President, or qualified person designated by the president, of any university, college, community college, academy or other institution of learning situated within the election jurisdiction
- Elected or appointed official of a labor union or qualified members designated by the official
- Elected or appointed official of a bona fide state civic organization or qualified members designated by the official
To become a Deputy Registrar you must:
- Review the State Board of Elections Deputy Registrar Guidelines
- Complete appropriate forms provided by the election authority
