Traffic Safety School

If your ticket is marked no court appearance required AND you have not attended a Traffic Safety School program in the last 12 months, you may be eligible to avoid a conviction on your driving record by receiving Court Supervision by mail and attending the Traffic Safety School Program. If you were enrolled in or have completed Traffic Safety School for a violation committed within the past twelve months, you are NOT eligible to take the four hour course again.

Effective September 30, 2005, Senate Bill 1825: In accordance with 49 C.F.R. Part 384, all reports of Court Supervision, except violations related to parking, shall be forwarded to the Secretary of State for all holders of a CDL (Commercial Driver's License). These reports shall be recorded to the driver's record as a conviction for use in the disqualification of the driver's commercial motor vehicle privileges and shall not be privileged information.

Public Act 95-310 prohibits drivers under 18 years of age from participating in the mail-in process. Drivers under 18 years of age should plead not guilty and request a court date. Drivers under 18 years of age must have a parent or legal guardian present in Court before Court Supervision will be granted.
